Production and Packaging

We are in process of adopting technology which will help SANIFA in managing every stage of seed production in an effective and efficient manner. SANIFA plans a contemporary approach to launch a SANIFA Activity Tracker app (SAT) which provides the following benefits:

• Building farmers database and real time information for fast decision making
• Analyzing geographical compatibility with seed varieties and measuring environmental impacts on yields and fiber quality
• Timely information from each production plot from which will provide better visibility and for effective management and controls

SANIFA understands that the seed purity cannot be achieved alone but joining hands with progressive farmers who share the same vision as SANIFA. The following activities are performed to select appropriate farmers:

• Thorough evaluation of growers
• 100% verification of new production farmers’ information by Area Operation Managers (AOM)
• Review and recommendations by Supply Chain Manager (SCM) after direct meetings with growers
• Each production plot of 100 acres or more to ensure consistency in seed quality
• Submission of farmers’ information in SAT and plots marking as per geographic locations

SANIFA issues the finest quality seed which passes peculiar quality standards deployed at SANIFA’s seed quality labs. SANIFA ensures the following while issuing seed to the farmers for production:

• Seed issuance based on quality standards ranking of each variety
• Issuance of seeds to approved contractual farmers through signed agreement
• Planting is executed in the presence of Supply Chain team (SCT)

SANIFA Supply Chain team regularly monitors the crop from germination to picking and accentuates its importance to famers as well. In taking pre-emptive measures against any risks and uncertainties that may arise in the fields following activities are ensured during the crop cycle:

• Regular monitoring of crop and timely farm advisory services by the Supply Chain team
• Supply Chain team submits information regularly which presents weekly dashboard showing crop progress on each production field Supply chain team prepares harvesting schedule, agreed with grower, based on weather forecasts.
• SANIFA team ensures that necessary rouging is done before start of cotton picking and all borders are isolated from other varieties if present around

SANIFA implements the following standards to manage volume and ensure seed quality from cotton fields to ginning factories and onwards.

• Picking from each production plot is handled and processed separately to avoid any chances of mixing
• Each variety is processed separately at exclusive ginning factory to avoid seed mixing during process
• Supply Chain team is deployed at each ginning factory to monitor daily operations and ensure all SOPs are maintained accordingly
• Record of germination tests are maintained for every seed production plot at our Seed Quality Testing lab
• Ensures proper and timely cleaning of machines & removing low quality seeds under supervision of the SANIFA team

SANIFA seed is graded and packed in its own branded bags which contain QR codes though which the seed can be traced back to the field where it was grown. Following activities are performed to ensure the high quality of seed:

• SANIFA team ensures lot wise grading as per strict guidelines
• Accurate labelling on bags is ensured to secure purity and avoid mixing of varieties
• QR codes are printed on finished bags for traceability
